[0:00] I just met with a group of women and

[0:02] girls in Afghanistan.

[0:06] We met in secret. We met online as part

[0:09] of an underground classroom for Afghan

[0:11] women and girls. I was invited as a

[0:13] guest speaker to speak to these women

[0:15] about revolutionary love. And I met

[0:18] students who were 13 to 30 years old. I

[0:20] could not see their faces. Videos off. I

[0:23] did not know their real names. They used

[0:25] aliases. But I was able to hear their

[0:28] voices and I talked to them about the

[0:30] practice of love as a revolutionary

[0:33] force within us. And then I just sat

[0:35] back and listened and I will never

[0:38] forget the brilliance, the passion and

[0:41] the sincerity of these women. There was

[0:44] one young girl 13 years old who went by

[0:46] the name of Rana and she told me quote

[0:50] my age doesn't limit my power. I will

[0:53] fight for myself and every other woman

[0:55] who is silenced and I will be their

[0:56] voice. She said, "If the world forgets

[1:00] me, I won't forget myself." We talked

[1:03] about the voice of wisdom inside of us.

[1:05] That's what I teach. And she said, "The

[1:07] wise woman inside me keeps telling me to

[1:11] try and never [clears throat] give up. I

[1:13] believe that the Taliban banned

[1:15] education for us because they're scared

[1:17] of educated women. They know what an

[1:21] educated woman can do.

[1:24] I have been holding Rana in my heart

[1:25] since that conversation and I've been

[1:28] thinking about all that I was learning

[1:29] from her and these women and girls I

[1:31] met. They were showing me what it looks

[1:34] like to practice revolutionary love in

[1:37] the most oppressive circumstances.

[1:40] It's something that we need to learn

[1:41] from more and more how to do here in the

[1:43] United States. how to get innovative,

[1:45] how to keep organizing, how to go

[1:46] underground if needed, how to shine the

[1:48] light inside of us and between us no

[1:50] matter how dark it gets.

[1:53] I'm just so grateful to this

[1:55] organization, Voices Unveiled, for

[1:56] leading these underground classrooms and

[1:59] for giving us a meaningful way to be in

[2:01] relationship [clears throat] with the

[2:02] women and girls in Afghanistan who have

[2:03] been closed off from the rest of the

[2:05] world. If you are looking for a

[2:11] is the organization. They are directly
